Maydi frankincense oil

Pure organic essential oil from maydi (frankincense frereana).

Composition: 99,8% pure essential oil of boswellia frereana from Rari Buul, with 0,2% vitamin E organically obtained from sunflower seeds as an antioxidant. GCMS chemical analysis.

Source: The resins were harvested by Said Awad Araale in Rari Buul, Saahil region of Somaliland and sorted, cleaned and packed by members of the Beeyo Maal cooperative in Bur’o. They were flown directly from Somaliland to Europe and distilled by experts in the Netherlands.

Safety: Test before widespread application on very sensitive skin. Ingestion of Maydi is more common than that of other types of frankincense (see Maydi chewing gum).

Storage: Comes with precision dropper in a Miron Violetglass bottle resistant to ultraviolet radiation (thus, resistant to degradation by light). Stored in a cool place and with the cap screwed on tightly, this essential oil can be preserved for decades after opening.

Tip: Can be mixed with other essential oils, especially those with strong base notes such as myrrh, sandalwood, vetiver, tonka bean or labdanum.

Fair trade: We paid what the members of the cooperative asked (15$/kg). In addition, 10% of the listed price (excl VAT) is donated to the Beeyo Maal foundation to improve working conditions and the regeneration of frankincense forests. Our sourcer bought this Maydi harvested by the current head of the Beeyo Maal foundation. The largest tears are kept as chewing gum, the smaller ones are distilled. The yield was very good, allowing us to offer it for a reasonable price. Now, we are experimenting with the residue to develop a very special skin-nourishing oil – more on that soon!
