Facial & Body Oil

History: Both frankincense and myrrh have been used since antiquity to slow down the natural ageing of the skin, often experienced as skin rejuvenation by users. Cleopatra famously used a beauty lotion made of both resins, 

Neurocosmetics: At a physiological level, while myrrh tightens the skin and attacks and removes aggressive foreign agents, frankincense envelops the skin in an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal shield. In addition, as the term ‘neurocosmetics’ implies, molecules contained in these oils are transmitted through the skin into the body’s nervous system, causing mental de-stressing, muscular relaxation, spiritual grounding and mood enhancement (happiness).

Tip: If you use this oil for massages, you may dilute it in three times its volume of another massage oil or twice its volume of carrier oil such as almond, jojoba, grapeseed, coconut or other, to make our oil last!

Source: This facial and body oil has been elaborated with steam-distilled essential oils of myrrh and frankincense collected by members of the Beeyo Maal cooperative in Somaliland: Abdillahi Said Awad harvested the frankincense, and Said Awad Araale the myrrh. Its base is cold-pressed biological almond oil from Italy.

Storage: Frankincense and myrrh themselves contain many preservative agents and 2Mages has added to this oil 0,2% of vitamin E obtained organically from sunflower seeds to prevent oxidation, giving the facial oil a shelf life of at least one year after opening.

Fair trade: We pay what the members of the cooperative think is a fair price. In addition, 10% of the listed price (excl VAT) is donated to the Beeyo Maal foundation to improve working conditions among harvesting communities and the regeneration of frankincense forests. Another 10% is invested in the activities of Arawelo, which seeks to establish a new model for trade in products collected in the wild by indigenous communities worldwide by building short supply lines to consumers while facilitating research and advocacy.

I joined the 2Mages team because of this lotion. I was hooked the first time I used it. It is liquid love! Self-love, first of all. As soon as you apply it, all the troubles of the day vanish and you look at yourself happily in the mirror. But its scent is also extremely attractive. The frankincense smells of esoteric princes and princesses, and the slight touch of myrrh is downright beastly, IMHO. Too bad it is so evanescent. Enkidu is working on a perfume, I can’t wait!
