Said Westi (left) was born in Saudi Arabia of Somali parents, went to school there and became a well-known soccer player. After his retirement from the sport, he returned together with his wife, Farhiya Eege Farah (right), to his parents’ home in Siraadley, a village in Sanaag famous for its frankincense. Together they have great plans for their village, to provide energy and water for an environmental regeneration project in and around Siraadley, planting new drought-resistant varieties of fruit and vegetables, initiating beekeeping and involving the community in irrigation projects. They hope to fund this partially from the income of their incense. 10% of the sales price of his essential oil will accrue directly to their project. If you create an account, you can follow their project when they provide an update.
