Until now 2Mages has sourced its Beeyo Maal resins in the UK, where there was a small stock from the 2024 harvest: mostly carterii frankincense from Said Westi in Siraadley. Now, nearly half a tonne awaits shipment in Somaliland’s capital, Hargeisa.
The resins were harvested this summer. The myrrh and the maydi frankincense was collected by Said Awad Araale in Rari Buul; most of the carterii frankincense comes from Madar Mooge and was collected by Abdillahi Said Awad; and some of it was collected by Ahmad Ali Isse in Hasasha.
The carterii was sorted by Beeyo Maal ladies in Sanaag’s capital Erigabo, while the two other resins were sorted by members of the cooperative in Bur’o. The video below shows some of 2Mages’ Maydi resins in a video sent by the ladies in Bur’o.
From Beeyo Maal’s sorting centers, the sealed 25kg bags were transported by truck to Hargeisa. Heavy rains have fallen on the otherwise parched landscape, making road transport a bit tricky, but the 17 bags made it to the capital. They will soon be sent by air freight to Europe.

Rejoice o ye enlightenment seeking souls, the 2Mages are bringing frankincense and myrrh to you from afar!
